Unlike the Dyfi Bike Park and the RedBull Hardline, this one’s just for the Athertons and friends… sadly.
We see it in the first video of the new Atherton Diaries, a fortnightly blog show including the best of the action of two weeks in the life of MTB’s first family.
This first episode starts out following Rachel at the Climach-x trail in Dyfi, where she looks insanely fast.
You’d expect her to, though, given last year’s perfect season, where she won every World Cup round and then capped it by becoming World Champ too. An unprecedented result that’ll probably never happen again in our lifetimes.
Back to the video, and there’s some brilliant looking off-piste stuff with Dan and Gee, on a trail that looks slippery, steep and nasty… ie great fun. It’s tricky enough to make Dan crash twice.
It looks like Dan’s been pretty busy with shovel and digger over the past few years then, refining the Hardline course and working on the new Dyfi Bike Park. The best way to see how it’s progressing is by following Dan’s Insta feed, check out the latest gaps, and talk of a 60ft jump coming soon.
The best bit of the Atherton Diaries so far is Dan Atherton’s work at a new skatepark, built in a farmer’s old barn. It’s not till the end of the video you see how big it is: it’s huge.
Gee Atherton said: “This isn’t the Atherton Project, we never like to revisit what we’ve done before, we’ve moved stuff on, we still want to share some of the stuff that goes down and some of the funny things that go on behind the scenes but this is a less polished, more modern take on the idea — more like a vlog. We’re excited to share what we get up to at, and away from, the races.
