Commencal’s titanium frames are a rare breed, and all the more desirable for it. Renowned for its strength-to-weight ratio and spring-like properties, titanium is revered as the perfect material for building hardtail frames. The Meta Ti takes this classic metal and fashions it into a thoroughly contemporary hardtail that looks primed for action.

Using the steel-tubed Meta HT CroMo as a template, Commencal has made the Meta Ti compatible with all popular mod-cons, namely 650b wheels, 150mm travel forks –it’s a great match for the RockShox Pike Dual position – and dropper posts. The bike in these photos was built up with SRAM’s XO groupset, but there are ISCG tabs to allow you to run a chain device and cable guides for a front derailleur.

A 65.5° head angle sounds spot on for razzing, especially when paired up with a travel adjust fork to lower the front end for climbing, but the 44mm head tube also gives options for tweaking the geometry.

Simple though it is, the Meta Ti frame will still be too rich for most pockets. Thankfully the identically angled Meta HT Cromo can be yours for a quarter of the price.
