Good friends make great competitors on the race scene, according to movie-maker and enduro racer Cat Topham, who made this little edit to prove it

Inspired by the idea that competition brings friends closer together, Cat filmed riding friends Claire Bennett and Rachael Gurney in Dalby Forest.

Called ‘It’s Not a Race, Right?’ the video is shot around some cracking looking trails that Cat says are a mix of trail centre and mostly off-road locals’ trails. We think Worry Gill from the World Cup XC course is in there too.

“Last year on the enduro circuit there was a maximum of about 10 of us women and 300 guys,” Cat says. So that meant we got to know each other really well.

“We’d help each other out, show each other lines in practice but then be trying to beat each other in the race.”

This year the competition was stronger and the number of women racing higher too, according to Cat.
