A new Trans Provence-style enduro race will take place in South Wales next summer, on technically demanding, mountain trails, all set to breathtaking scenery
Epic Cymru will take place August 15-19 and organiser Matthew Page says the race will visit Bike Park Wales, Afan Forest Park, Rheola Forest and Margam Park, connected by pedal power, barring one bus transfer. (Check out our guide to Bike Park Wales.)
There are 18 timed sections planned with separate cross country and downhill sections over the five days, with around 45-75km riding a day. Matthew says the idea is to concentrate on the riding, with the event tailored for real riders rather than the pros. That said, there are rumours of some big American names from the enduro race scene on their way over.
Tickets go on sale January 11 2015 with numbers limited to 225 riders, go to www.epiccymru.com for details and how to enter.
