And two plus size tyres

Maxxis yesterday announced the launch of three new tyres at the Taipei bike show, including a brand new wet-weather tyre.

The Maxxis ForeKaster is a tubeless ready tyre that will be sold only in 29×2.35″ and should serve as a solid winter tyre for a cross country rider. Its dual compound construction means that the shoulders can be soft for traction and increased mud clearance while the centre can be hard for added durability. Maxxis claims the tread pattern will give extra braking performance in boggy, singletrack conditions.

Maxxis has also added two new plus size tyres to its range. The Ikon+ is designed for trail and XC use and is made using the 3C Maxx Speed compound whereas the Rekon+ is designed for “agressive XC” and is made with the harder 3C Maxx Terra compound. Both tyres will be available in 27.5×2.80″ only.

Maxxis is expecting these tyres to be among their best-selling in future, which just shows how much  faith they have in the plus-size revolution. Derek Martin, managing director of Maxxis, said: “Trail bike riders ride on some of the most demanding tracks around the world, so to be able to provide them with the unrivalled performance they expect from Maxxis is crucial.”
