Sizes: 40-47 / Micro Step buckle / Black only / Vibram outsole
Lake has finally updated this shoe with a Micro Step buckle, making it easier to adjust and eliminating the D-tag and resulting strap-bunching on the old shoe. Two smaller Velcro straps let you tailor the fit to the shape of your foot. The toe area is a little narrow on these shoes, so they may not fit everyone, but seemed more comfortable than the usual race offerings. This is due to the cushioning effect of the soft Vibram sole. It does clog with mud, but the replaceable ‘Mudstuds’ are ideal for winter run-ups. Two mesh panels mean that overshoes will still be needed if it’s wet or cold. Overall, the Lakes are cheaper than the Shimano M182N we tested last month but they’re still a bit pricey for a shoe without a carbon sole.
