Winner Charlie Williams of Fetish Bike Company

MBR has just returned triumphant (by triumphant we mean we all got round without hurting ourselves) from the Forest of Dean having slithered around a greasy but highly entertaining first round of the Enduro1 southern enduro championships. Having become media partners with the new-for-2012 series we were very keen to get stuck in and have a go at this trail-riding-with-a-numberboard type of racing, at round one of the X-Fusion Enduro-1 All Mountain Race Series.

The format for the race was six timed stages linked with sections of pedalling in between that formed a tough 25km loop, testing our fitness as well as our skills to their limits. The stages were a mix of technical singletrack trails, a short, trialsy type section and a couple of more DH oriented trails. All of them were great fun and all geared around trail riders on trail bikes, with stage three (which ran as the MBR Team Chase stage) being the majority’s favourite!

Fastest riders on the day were Charlie Williams of Fetish Bike Company, in first place. Ryan Bevis took second with James Green of Yeti/Leisure Lakes in third. First lady was Anna Buckingham and first team was the Fetish Bike Company team with Team MBR coming home in a respectable 4th place. It was a top day that ran very smoothly and everyone we spoke to was full of praise of the event, big thanks must go to Carlos and his team of helpers and marshals for their hard work. The two remaining rounds are at Salisbury Plain on June 17 and Caesars Camp, Hampshire on Sept 30. See you there!
