New Dune Alloy looks ace. Also new Foxy Alloy, Podium Carbon and a 27.5+ bike

Last week we stumbled across a Mondraker minisite that has some pics and vids of their 2017 bikes.

We’ve finally had someone from inside Mondraker HQ drop us a line with a bit more information about what exactly is new.

2017 Mondraker Dune Alloy

mondraker_dune_alloy_01

Clearly inspired by the look of the Dune Carbon, the Dune Alloy is probably the nicest looking Mondraker yet.

Forward Geometry to the fore.

The Dune is a 160mm travel enduro bike.

Mondraker man: “All new. New and improved Stealth aluminum frame. Dune Carbon inspired-inherited design.

“Same 160mm rear wheel travel Zero suspension system. Forward Geometry. New rear swingarm design is stiffer, Boost 148×12.

“New lower link for the Zero suspension – it’s the same as the one we use on Summum Carbon / Dune Carbon with collet axle pivots.

“2.820g (without rear shock).

“Headset angle 0.5 slacker for 66º with 160 mm fork, and 65,5º with 170 mm fork.

“Three models sharing the same frame: R, RR and XR. New XR model with 170 mm Fox Float front fork.”

2017 Mondraker Foxy Alloy

The minisite doesn’t have any full side-on shots of the Foxy Alloy so you’ll have to make do with piecing the piccies together in your mind for now.

Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that Mondrakers have one of the most distinctive aesthetics in mountain biking.

The Mondraker Foxy is their 140mm travel trail bike.

Mondraker man: “Foxy aluminium is similarly Dune Carbon-inspired design. 140mm rear wheel travel.

“2.710g frameset weight without shock.

“Headset angle is 0.5º slacker – 67.0 with 140mm fork and 66.0º with160 mm Fox fork (as on the Foxy XR alu model).

“Three models: Foxy, Foxy R and Foxy XR.”

2017 Mondraker Podium Carbon

mondraker_podium_carbon_09

Pee-yow! That’s one speedy looking XC rig. The new Podium is made from ‘Stealth Air’ carbon apparently (don’t you just love marketing departments?)

Mondraker aren’t the only company doing integrated/flush stems but this sort of thing is still very rare on mountain bikes.

Flatstays designed to offer a modicum of comfort at the back. All in weight for the frame is claimed as 920g.

Mondraker man: “Podium Carbon 2017 is the new Mondraker Cross Country Racing hardtail icon.

“920 gram Stealth Air frameset with a fully stylized design with thinner and slimmer tubes; a flatter top tube, very “aero” that inspires and provides greater speed and lightness setting a new stiffness standard and new low profile FlatStays seatstays and 27.2mm seatpost that increase rear absorption and reduce vibrations, with a significant weight reduction and improved performance against the clock.

“15% stiffer, 20% lighter and 25% more suppleness, the new 2017 Podium releases geometric improvements to suit the rigors of the current XCO and Marathon World Cup races and maintains the integrated stem IST EVO concept design, more compact and with just 128 grams, with better integration into the frameset. Four new Podium Carbon models that set a new performance standard for a racing hardtail at the highest level.

“Compared to current Podium the new one is 8mm chainstay shorter, 432 from 440, TT is one centimetre longer, now is 610mm in size M (10mm longer TT) with 10mm shorter stem too, now 75mm (from 85mm on 2016) for sizes S and M, 90mm for size Large and 105mm for size XL, (additionally we will have 115 mm too).

“Head angle is 0.5 slacker (70.0º), BB height, handlebar position and seat position remain exactly the same compared to current 2016 Podium Carbon.

The riding has nothing to do with the current (old!) Podium. This 2017 feels way much faster, more precise, more confidence inspiring in technical terrain, (longer front centre as on Forward Geo makes a huge difference), stiffer on the BB and above everything else, more comfortable and supple over rough terrain.”

2017 Mondraker Foxy Carbon video

Mondraker man: “Foxy Carbon XR specs the new SRAM X01 Eagle 12 speed. Has a new Black Phantom colour too.

“Two framesets available for 2017: Foxy Carbon XR  and Foxy Carbon R )with the same shock Float Factory Kashima)”

2017 Mondraker Dune Carbon video

Mondraker man: “XR model gets DHX2 coil rear shock. Dune Carbon RR gets Float X2 rear shock. Dune Carbon R new Black Phantom black colour. There will be two framesets available for 2017: Dune Carbon XR with DHX2 and Dune Carbon R new Black Phantom Colour with Float X2 shock.”

2017 Mondraker Factor+

mondraker_factor_plus_06

The Mondraker Factor+ is a 120mm travel 27.5+ bike.

mondraker_factor_plus_09

How 27.5+ bikes fit in to the general scheme of things is still a bit up in the air. Are these just for beginners? Then why are so many experienced riders loving them too?

mondraker_factor_plus_11

The Factor+ doesn’t seem to shy away from progressive geometry. Is this a full sus Plus that is up for some proper shredding?

And that’s pretty much all the info we have at this stage. Rest assured we’re badgering the Mondraker press people for more stuff. We’ll update this page as and when we receive more info.
