The Swedish are coming

Öhlins Racing continue their push into the world of MTB with a growing distribution and servicing network.

>>> The best mountain bike suspension forks

Although a new name in mountain bikes, Öhlins have been around on the motor vehicle suspension scene for relatively yonks. Forty years to be precise. 2016 is their 40th anniversary year.

It was Öhlins’ partnership with Specialized that first saw the brand – famous for its yellow coils – appearing on mountain bikes rather than motorbikes. They supplied Spesh with OE equipment for complete bikes.

Clearly there was profit and/or enjoyment to be had in expanding into the mountain bike world because in more recent times Öhlins have released aftermarket shocks and forks that anyone can bung on to their bikes.

Leading the line-up is the TTX 22 M Universal, an aftermarket shock absorber designed principally for DH and gravity riding. For Enduro segment there’s the STX 22 Air Universal.

Öhlins recently launched the RXF 36 Front Fork, the new, bigger brother to the semi-iconic RXF 34.

These products now are backed up with UK servicing and warranty support by Öhlins trained specialist service centres J-Tech Suspension, Plush Suspension, Sprung Suspension, Sussed Out Suspension and TF Tuned.

With an ever improving distribution and availability allied now to a varied servicing network maybe we’ll start to see Öhlins parts appearing on more regular riders bikes out there. Variety is the spice of life after all.
