Entries for the Andes Pacifico have opened and with only 100 places available, competition to make the cut will be fierce.

This is the fourth running of the Andes Pacifico and it has been extended from a four day event to a five day event for this year. The race takes place in Chile on tracks carved by cowboys and native Americans from the Andes to the Pacific and offers riders about 12,000 metres of descending. It attracts some of the best enduro riders in the world including Jerome Clementz, Nico Lau and Fabien Barel.

This year’s race will take place February 9-13 and will take the riders from the Ski Village, La Parva very close to Santiago to the beach of Matanzas.

Only 100 riders will be selected to complete and all entrants will be asked to fill out a form  describing their “experience, physical and technical level”. The entries will be reviewed and 100 riders will be selected to compete.

Unfortunately the chance to race doesn’t come cheap. The total cost of entering comes to $1,665 (£1,075) which includes camping, food and transportation of your kit, but will not include your flights out to the race itself.

Registration opens today and will close on November 30, applications will be responded to within 15 days.
