Leaked 9 second clip of the back of the new GoPro Hero 5 reveals a colour touch screen.

Okay, so we can ‘t see the front of the new GoPro but we imagine a whole lot isn’t going to change on the front anyway.

The footage on Vimeo is from a clip showing you how to connect the new helmetcam to your smartphone.

What can we gleam from this leaked snippet?

  • It has a more rounded-off shape
  • No sign of an accessory slot – will the new GoPro be waterproof without the need for an external additional housing?
  • It has a feature called ‘GoPro Sniper’ – but we don’t know what this will be!

We”re just really pleased to see on a screen on there at last. No more trying to operate a helmetcam with a two button interface and a 1980s calculator display.

Improved battery life? That’s always welcome. But this is going to be something of a challenge with the addition of the rear screen.

Contactless battery recharging?

120 frames per second slo-mo at 4K resolution?

Better live streaming to social networks?

Quicker to change its exposure when rapidly moving from shade to open spaces?

Wider dynamic range so that there’s less murky shadows and fewer burned out skies?

Some sort of backwards compatibility to previous GoPros would go down well with existing GoPro owners.

A cheaper RRP?

What about the moon a (selfie) stick?
