Northumberland’s Kielder Forest makes its debut on the Avalanche Trophy calendar on May 17-18 for the UK leg of this European enduro series. A field of 350 riders is expected to take part. The stages will be held on Kielder’s ‘Deadwater’ mountain bike trail, a £300,000 development unveiled last autumn and run in partnership between the Kielder Trail Reavers, Kielder Partnership and the Forestry Commission. Alex MacLennan, FC recreation and tourism manager, said: “This will really put us on the map as a prime European recreational venue.”
