Apparently Afan is the most visited trail centre in Wales, which isn’t really a surprise for us — we’ve been going there for years to give trail bikes a pasting and for photoshoots.
The new section of trail is called the Energy Trail and forms part of the White’s Level loop, which starts and finishes at the Glyncorrwg Visitor centre. The trail has been paid for by npower and has been designed and built by Rowan Sorrel, who also built the Brechfa trail we featured in our October 2006 issue.
Secretary of state for Wales Peter Hain was on hand to open the trail and look completely out of place in the press shots.
