Whenever Danny MacAskill takes his bike to his homeland of the Isle of Skye, something out of the world seems to happen.

And this morning (Friday, March 20), something out of the world literally did happen. And MacAskill, of course, exploited the opportunity, creating this incredible image, taken by Rutger Pauw.

The eclipse that saw the moon cover large parts of the sun across northern Europe in the morning blacked out 98 per cent of the sun’s rays in Skye.

So a perfect opportunity, then, for MacAskill and his team from Red Bull to photograph a combination of the skills rider and the lunar phenomenon.

The Scottish star was riding along the Quiraing hill in the Trotternish mountain range on the island at the time of the eclipse.
