Updated platforms takes Chain Reaction own-brand to the next level

Although Vitus made its name selling road and cyclo-cross frames during the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, lately it’s been collecting accolades and winning bike tests for its range of mountain bikes. For 2015 the direct-sales brand is hoping to make a big leap forward, launching three new models with a bespoke suspension platform and premium frame manufacturing. We’re expecting a smaple model to evaluate very soon, but in the meantime, here’s a rundown on the three new models:

The new Escarpe 275 gets 135mm travel with a sleak new alloy frame and revised kinematics

Escarpe 275 and 290

  • Frame is constructed from 6061 T6 aluminium, triple-butted and hydroformed.
  • 650b wheels on the Escarpe 275, 29in on the Escarpe 290.
  • Gets 135mm of travel using the new suspension design with rocker link and Horst Link.
  • Shock actuated at both ends.
  • Geometry designed to work with a 140-150mm travel fork.
  • Four frame sizes available, from S to XL.
  • Includes ISCG 05 chainguide mounts, bolt-on down tube protector and 142 x 12mm rear dropouts.
  • Internal ‘stealth’ seatpost routing.
VITUS SOMMET 2015

The new Sommet has been developed on the enduro race scene

Sommet

  • Frame is constructed from 6061 T6 aluminium, triple-butted and hydroformed.
  • 650b wheels.
  • Gets 155mm of travel using the new suspension design with rocker link and Horst Link.
  • Shock actuated at both ends.
  • Geometry designed to work with a 160-170mm travel fork.
  • Four frame sizes available, from S to XL.
  • Includes ISCG 05 chainguide mounts, bolt-on down tube protector and 142 x 12mm rear dropouts.
  • Internal ‘stealth’ seatpost routing.
