Located an hour north of Inverness, there is a significant cluster of trails forming in this pocket of the UK. With each one that is added it makes it that little bit more attractive to travel up to.

There has been an actively hushed approach to the trails PR so far, even extending as far as policing the forums and quieting any mass calls to ride the trail before the official opening.

This was mainly to allow the new trail to bed in and firm up, but that time has now passed and the word is already spreading. We took a spin up to meet the local lads, roll our tyres over the trail, and get the low down on the area straight from the horse’s mouth.
In late 2005 a posse of riders left their fair village north of Inverness and made their way south to ride the trails in the borders they had heard so much about.
Bruce Taylor and Chris Whealing were riding that day and returned to Golspie with a mission in mind. Chris is the factor for Sutherland Estates and Bruce is forestry manager, working for Scottish Woodlands who manage the forest for the estate, so between them they had the authority and know-how to get the ball rolling on what would turn into a hugely successful local community project.

At the moment you have Learnie Red Rock less than an hour away, the superb Contin trails just round the corner, Laggan Wolftrax just south of Inverness and the natural trails at Aviemore right next door to Laggan. To our mind that already makes it worthwhile making the pilgrimage, it’s a no brainer.
