There are also plans to add a DH track at the park, in Reddish Vale, Stockport, in stage 2 of the development. Organiser Brian Cook said the plans involve building a vast artificial hill from building-site rubble and earth before contracting a course designer to devise and sculpt the trails.
“At the moment we are seeking permission from the landowner – Stockport Council,” Cook said. “We need to demonstrate a need for the project, that’s why we need people to go to the website and show their interest.”
Like Chicksands, the park will ward off the threat of litigation with clear signage and graduated trails of varying difficulty.
Cook expects the centre to be open by this time next year, and also has plans to use some of the leftover money to employ a full time member of staff. Go to www.reddishvalemtb.co.uk to show your support.
