Hi MJR
I've got the 06 Sworks Stumpy, there's some amazing deals around on the 07, frame down from £1900 to around £900 if you're quick, complete with the brainfade, integrated headset and Thompson seat post.
Spesh seem to really know how to handle carbon and it's done in large volume, what's your price limit or are you after an Uber bike circa £4k, coz the 08 carbon stumpy won the test in this months MBR.
Oh, and welcome to the forum

Thanks for welcome. I have been into a shop today (where I bought my first Rockhopper 20 years ago almost to the day) they are pricing up a 08 s-works. I have decided to go for it. Plus I need some kit so its an expensive investment but I just can't get enough of the sport at the moment. I demoed the stumpjumper expert and loved it so am ready to take the plunge! Have been agonising over the decision for weeks now as for that money I could have pretty much anything or even two decent bikes but I think the Stumpy suits mt style of riding.
I read the review in MBR, which confirmed that its the bike for me.
I'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers

An update, I confirmed the deal, hopefully I will be collecting the beauty at the weekend. Gone for Shimano xtr, roval traversee, Hope m4 brakes (guy in shop thought they have more power than the minis) and am putting on panaracer cinder tyres.

Just got you reply. I am very close to Llandegla (20 mins away) that is my regular trail. Am planning a trip to the Long Mynd, Shropshire in a few weeks. I used to ride there 20 years ago, its beautiful. When I first rode there ramblers were astonished to see a bike up a mountain, now I will be making the most of my location in the North West. The Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales are also in my sights. How about you?

It was a toss up between the Panaracers (good reviews) and the Maxxis Advantage. Any thoughts?

Tubeless and Maxxis would be my recomendation.
Larsens for the summer, all the test bikes were shod with them in the head to head this month, Highrollers for intermediate and Bontrager Mud X's for the real slop.
Your buying your dream bike, you don't want to be heaving it upside halfway around a mint trail to fix a ruddy puncture!

Thanks for the invite but I am planing the trip to Shropshire on 9th August, followed by a night in Bishops Castle, which has some of the best pubs and beer in England!
I did look at the Yeti and was sorely tempted.
And I seriously must take my girlfriend away for a holiday before she gives me an ultimatum, her or the bike!!
