Anybody willing to share their experiences of riding the coast to coast Hadrians way. There is a group of us doing it at the end of July for charity. We plan to start in Ravensglass and finish up in Tynemouth - taking 3 days

What a cracking ride that will be. I'm from up that way, I've not done the entire route but I've walked a few sections and the scenery is brilliant.
There's a path that follows the wall pretty much all the way along the remaining sections, I'm not sure if it's footpath or multi-use. Looking at this map.... http://www.sustrans.org.uk/webfiles/events/Hadrians%20Wall%202006%20RGB.jpg I reckon it's a footpath.

Cheers,
We did the coast to coast from whitehaven to tynemouth last year which was great. One regret was ploughing on and not stopping to look at the scenery every now and again.
We plan to ride ravensglass to carlise day 1. Carlise to Hexton day 2, and Hexton to Tynemouth day 3.
Quite a big difference this year as the first day is about 88miles (although quite flat).

A friend of mine is riding From Lands End to John o' Groats for charity in a few weeks.....
On his carrera Banshee freeride bike!!!
Bear in mind this thing is about 45lb and is running Marz 888's up front, the worlds fattest tyres, six gears with a 44t up front. He's booked 3 weeks off work to do it and he reckons he's cutting it fine!!

cutting it fine!!
that's still over 40 miles a day every day for 21 days.
sounds like he needs locking up for his own safety.
