When Steve Peat announced his retirement a couple of weeks ago he promised the “fun and adventure that two wheels gives [him] will continue forever”.

This video is the first of those adventures and hopefully it’s a sign of things to come. It shows Peat, along with trials legend Hans ‘No Way’ Rey, traversing from the north to the south of Iceland. Throughout their week-long trip they encounter some of the most diverse and stunning scenery in the world – one particularly amazing section shows the riders on a glacier and another on the black slopes of a volcano – it’s breath taking stuff.

For us, this sums up what mountain biking is all about. Your bike can take you places you have never been before and you get to enjoy it with friends – what could be better? If this is what Steve Peat has lined up for the rest of his career then it’s safe to say we’re pretty jealous, although if anyone’s earned it then he has.

Peaty will be racing one last season of World Cup downhill races and his final British World Cup will take place at Fort William on June 4-5 and he’s sure to get a massive send off.
