The Yutaak has been designed as a lightweight all-mountain perch doubling as a freeride saddle. The big deal is the shape and the Vibram rubber wings down the sides for support and grip but we don’t see the point of the Vibram on the rear as it isn’t that soft — it’s usually there so you can stuff the rear of the saddle into your gut on a hard landing.
On our scales it wasn’t the heaviest due to the titanium rails, but we’ve had compatibility issues. At 7mm wide but 8.5mm tall the saddle can sit at an angle with certain seatpost clamps. It won’t be an issue if you have a post that works, but our advice is to try before you buy.
‘Self-modelling’ padding makes the Yutaak comfortable but it’s the ugly duckling in this test and after a wet ride the Kevlar Cordura cover sucks up grime.
