Fast gaining a reputation for well-priced gear, the Mace MX Comp was a must for this test. No padding graces the palm, but double-thickness panels cover the heel and base of the fingers. Three main panels with a large diagonal seam across the knuckles cause some issues. Despite the angle, the seam is felt in its entirety.
Fits is also on the large side, with a wide palm and shorter fingers, and the palm leather protrudes further than the fabric on the back, causing bunching in the palm. The MX Comp is odd, as we have never had any issues with fit in other models tested, namely the pull-on Shackle which, at £19.95, would be a much better bet.
