We’ve seen dozens of ways to stop cable rub — clear tape, patches, heat shrink, old inner tubes — but these Housing Covers from Bontrager are one of the neatest. They slide easily onto 4mm gear outer like Shimano’s SP41, and do a great job of reducing friction wear to the frame. Bontrager claims they’ll fit 5mm brake outer, but only with a lot of lube and stretching, and, if you’ve got disc brakes, also disconnecting the hose from the caliper or lever.
If the covers were slightly longer, plain black and came in two sizes we’d have given them top marks.
