Shimano MP66 shoes - suitable slippers for big Kiwi flippers?

    Hi

Been browsing the mag over the summer between swimming and riding...ah summer days!

I'm in the market for some new shoes and have been taking notice of the toe covers people in MBR are wearing.

Didn't take long to notice that almost every second rider is wearing white Shimano MP66 shoes? See: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...x?ModelID=7610

I looked them up and they seem to have 5 stars from most users. Problem is that I'd have to order online as they aren't available locally.

    Two questions:

1 - what is the sole like for bike and hike (Wellington has some gnarly hills and there will be bike carrying)

2 - is the toe box wide or narrow? I've got big Kiwi shanks and flippers to match.

    Cheers

Cheers anyway...really just want to know if the toe covers are functional or just a good looking bit of kit.

    Have a good one.

Looks like they covers the laces. That can't be a bad thing.

The covers will probably help stop the laces getting caught in the chainrings, might also help with puddle splashes/snow build up, as well. I use 5-10's with the spats on them, so not qualified to have a real opinion in these ones.

And welcome to the forum 1006

    Cheers MTBLeague

By toe covers I was actually meaning the whole shoe (kiwi slang sorry).

Most interested in whether the sole is suitable for dusty or muddy climbs (carrying bike) - e.g. is there enough tread as per more traditional shoe.

Also toe box width - roomy or narrow in forefoot?

Last sole stiffness - no point in having clipless shoes if the sole is all bendy.
