I have a sore butt!!

I have just ridden my first bike in 16 odd years and as the title suggest it was a painful experience. Now I realise that with more riding my butt will adapt but I am on the look out for a bit of padding for my lower regions to easy the progress. There is just one problem I'm a bit large so I am looking into the X'sL for shorts. Can anybody recommend a shop\manufacturer of padded shorts for the larger man I don't want to end up paying a fortune as the bike is part of a get fit\lose weight theme (I have already lost 2.5st before climbing on the bike) so I will end up shrinking out of them in the near future.

Any suggestions welcome.

Deep heat. It's better than padded shorts.

Buy a car cleaning sponge, and gaffa tape it to the inside of your normal shorts. That way you can trim it down to the perfect size, and simpy remove and reuse when you get smaller shorts!

do NOT do the deep heat thing, the hoond has a dangerous sense of humour

as for Tom I think it's a gaffer tape fetish thing

pound for pound try Decathlon and get some lycra shorts to go under normal shorts until you know what size you will finish at

Thanks for the advice guys, will pass on the Deep Heat, might use the gaffer tape on the wife...........................it might stop her falling off her bike.
