Squeaky Brakes!!!

Hello,

On my 2011 Diamondback Ridge 20", the front brake has began to squeak when i brake, it starts when i have slowed to about 5MPH then it squeaks to stop.

The Brakes are Hydraulics and are made By Shimano

I believe it might of happened when I was lubricating my Suspension Forks and some got into the system.

I have taken the pads out and given used some wet and dry on them, and i have done the same with one side of the rotor / disc, i will do the other side tomorrow.

After Cleaning my Bike I always lightly sand my pads with Sand Paper (150) , and I clean my Rotors with White Spirit , works a treat never have any Issues at all with my Simple system , never had to Glaze my pads yet .. , Also check that you haven't Manage to Contaminate the Actual Caliper as it could be dripping slowly on the pads and re contaminating them , good luck keep us posted

give the pads a good clean with warm water then cook them on the gas burner gently though so they dont generate air pockets inside and blow sections of pad off or possibly delaminate, then sand them down along with the rotors and take them out downhill and bed them back in, they will feel useless for a while but then real sharp when bedded back in

OK, will try cleaning the rotors with white spirit later today, otherwise looks like new, pads, rotors and maybe calipers, plus a hydraulic bleed kit. OUCH

It won't be that bad.
Sand them, burn them, then bed them back in.

There should be no need for new rotors or calipers and probably no need for new pads.

Then can KurvZ lend some Capital Letters to Steve, this Mixture of capitals And no capitals is doing my Head In.

Have cleaned the rotors with spirit will burn with a blow torch later

It'll be neccessary to burn the pads off as they'll have a glazed coating over them.

Don't burn your house down.

Thanks everyone, there aren't words to describe how grateful I am for all help, for help of others this is what I did.

1 - Cleaned the rotors with Meth Spirit (No White :P)

2 - Removed the Pads, put them on a baking tray, heated them for about 20 sec with a blow torch - blow torches are very hot - on yahoo answers it said 1970 Degrees C.

3 - Cooled them in the fridge

4 - replaced them pads and now no squeaking.

Did you sand the pads off in between baking and refitting??

No, but i did before baking, but it doesn't squeak
