With a massive 37mm extension tube and forged construction this is one of the stiffest stems on test. It’s not as light as the company claims but it’s bang in the ballpark. Made in 31.8mm only, the stem features a new ‘Top-Lock’ faceplate that interlocks into the bar clamp. The top two bolts are tightened first followed by the bottom two bolts — resulting in a really secure and safe fit.
The EA90 is shot-peened for maximum fatigue strength, gets indents at the steerer end to save weight, and features chamfered edges on the composite-friendly faceplate. Right now Easton only produces this stem in oversized but has a shim coming allowing you to run 25.4mm bars. It could also do with some shorter lengths but this is a light and incredibly stiff stem.
