Entries have now opened for the 2016 ‘Ard Rock enduro on 5-7 August. It’s one of the most popular mountain biking events in the UK so you’ll probably have to move fast if you want a place.

There are two main races to enter at the festival, the first is the main event on the Saturday. This is a 45 kilometre route that takes in five or six special stages, there is optional practice on the Friday. The second event is the Sport Class that takes place on the Sunday, this allows more casual riders to take in the adventure on the same course without the pressure of trying to eek out every tenth of a second.

The ‘Ard Rock takes place in the Yorkshire Dales on what the organisers describe as “100 per cent natural and rocky terrain“. The real incentive to ride though is that the race takes place on private land, meaning the race s the only chance you get to ride these trails. It also means that the usual locals advantage at an Enduro race is not a factor, making it a fairer competition.

The event has now turned into a mini mountain biking festival with live music and entertainment in the evenings and food and drink available all weekend long.

In 2016 the organiser will also be running the first ‘Ard Moors enduro with entries due to open soon.
