The latest episode of Specialized’s Destination Trail series sees Troy Brosnan head to Derby, Tasmania, to find a town that has used mountain biking to recover from a natural disaster nearly a century ago.

The town was ruined when freak rainfall burst its dam and a 100 foot wall of water was sent crashing through local area. Since then trail builders have moved in and it is now a mountain biking destination.

The trails look sensational too, nothing too difficult or technical but amazingly flowing streams of dirt that take in jungles, pine forests and rocky river beds. New trails are being built there all the time as well. Towards the end of the video, Brosnan visits an unfinished blue trail that looks every bit as fun as the rest.

This is a flick that’s all about the atmosphere of a riding holiday though – the camaraderie, the late night barbecues and, of course, the endless days on the trail. We didn’t even finish the video before Tasmania was added to our bucket list, it looks sensational.

This is the third episode of the Destination Trail series. The first one took in our local Surrey Hills before heading to Fort William. To watch it click here.
