The shot-peened finish on Race Face parts is not what it used to be but we can’t fault the product otherwise. Available in all the key sizes, the forged 7050 aluminium stem is mid pack in the weight stakes. We’ve experienced some corrosion on the bolts but you can always upgrade to the SL, which has titanium hardware.

Independent fore/aft and saddle tilt adjustment is a byword at Race Face, and the Deus XC has both. It’s also 7 and 8mm-rail compatible and features 12mm of offset. Race Face’s new Deus XC bar is now available in a low 20mm rise. It’s cold drawn from proprietary Air Alloy and, while not carbon weight, the butted construction means it’s the lightest alloy bar on test. As a package, this finishing kit isn’t light, but it’s killer value, has the best post, a great bar and the stem is available in every size — four reasons why we have it on our bikes.
