Shimano XTR Dual Ctrl (hydraulic) £244.67

Monday 9th February 2009

February 2009

When Shimano launched Dual Control plenty of bike manufacturers specced them on trail bikes and there was even a big marketing push with the freeride fraternity when Saint was released. Five years on and Dual Control is pretty much the sole preserve of XC racers. The idea is that you can up and downshift with the brake lever, although there is the option of downshift using a removable secondary thumb lever which features the double shift function
also found on the standalone XTR shifter pods. You only get three up-shifts in one go with Dual Control and the last one is a stretch even with the redesigned lever. But our biggest gripe with Dual Control is that if you cover the brakes when you ride it is very easy to shift accidentally, especially on rough terrain.
