Sam Pilgrim has invited all his friends

The Sam Pilgrim Invitational, the UK’s biggest dirt jump competition, is due to return for a second year to the Birmingham NEC at the Cycle Show on 25-27 September.

The Sam Pilgrim invitational will bring together some of the world’s best dirt jumpers including Thomas Lemoine, Sam Reynolds and Pilgrim himself. The new course is bigger and longer than last year’s and now starts with a 30 foot drop in. Considering 430 tons of dirt has been used to build the jumps, we reckon they aren’t small either.

There will be a big air competition on the Saturday and the finals on the Sunday. With £5,000 worth of prize money on the line you expect the riders to throw down some big tricks as well.

Pilgrim said: “Competing in UK at the NEC last year was so awesome, the crowd was huge and everyone was very happy to be there! I think this year will be even bigger and I can’t wait! I find it pretty special to compete in the UK purely because it doesn’t happen that often and I like showing off in front of an English crowd.

“You will see world class tricks like backflips, 720’s, front flips, tail whips. My favourite trick is the backflip tail whip so expect to see that.”

The Cycle Show is the UK’s largest and longest running cycling exhibition. Also available over the weekend will be demo tracks, a retail village and the chance to chat with Martyn Ashton about his return from injury.

You will also be able to oggle some of the nicest bikes in the business including the Canyon Strive, Mondraker Dune and Lapierre Zesty. There will also be a selection of downhill bikes including the World Championship winning Lapierre DH Team.
