Riders will be able to choose between the opened Red run and the more family orientated Blue. After taking the chairlift 600 metres to the top the Red track is 1 mile in length with a vertical descent of 180 metres. The Blue will open at the end of June.

James McIntosh, operations director at Lecht, described the new centre: “The Nevis Range is all very well, but not everyone can use it – it’s a black run and too extreme for everyone. We’ve tried to make it more of a family downhill area. But there are some big old jumps if you want to, just with chicken runs around them if you don’t want to.”

The tracks have been put together by Pete Laing of Glentress fame. Lift passes are £20 for a day or any four hours for £16. www.lecht.co.uk
