London 2012 Olympic venue Hadleigh Farm will host the final round of the British Cross Country Series next year. The news builds on the legacy promise from Essex County Council, which last month announced that the course would be opened up to the public, with new trails, a skills area and visitor centre.

The five round British Cross Country Series features races for everyone from under-12s to over-60s and remains the pinnacle of domestic mountain bike competition, British Cycling says. All events have been submitted to the UCI for classification, allowing British riders the opportunity to qualify to race world cup events.

28 April – Round 2 United Downs, Redruth, Cornwall
