The 10 Under race is part of the Three Tens Series, which organisers say is experiencing record entries with more than 1000 entrants so far.

Frazer Coupland, from No Fuss Events, said: “We are delighted to announce that over 1000 people have now registered for the 2009 Benromach Three Tens Series. This is a 20% rise on 2008 figures at this stage. This is particularly encouraging news at a time when so many people are suffering the credit crunch. We are optimistic that this year’s 10 Under The Ben will attract a capacity field of 1000 riders with Kirroughtree and Moray 500 riders each.”

Coupland said: “10 Under the Ben continues to be the most popular event of the series. With almost 800 riders now entered we expect to close registration within a couple of weeks. We ask that riders who are keen to be part of this year’s event sign up now to avoid disappointment.”

Now in its fifth year, 10 Under The Ben, bike festival will be staged on Saturday 30 May 2009, a week before the 2009 Nissan UCI Mountain Bike World Cup hits Fort William. As usual at a No Fuss event there will be the full spectrum of skill levels taking part from the elite to the have a go types, all of whom will be welcome and all are bound to enjoy what promises to be a top event in the 2009 mountain bike race calendar.

The three challenging races in the Scottish series – 10 Under The Ben, 10 At Kirroughtree and 10 More In Moray – are run on an endurance format with participants riding solo or in relay teams of two, three or four to see who can complete the most laps in a gruelling 10 hours.

Races will take place within Forestry Commission Scotland’s Leanachan Forest just outside Fort William. Incorporating sections of the UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships cross country course the route will include some stunning sections of singletrack and fire roads, together with some new natural sections, all in the shadow of the north face of Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain.
