After a couple of months’ riding we pulled the Moto-X pedals apart to see how they were holding up. And it was worth doing, as the machined stainless steel axles are very impressive, as are the bearings: twin outboard Japanese cartridge bearings with an inboard needle bearing, as smooth now as they were when they arrived.
Externally, the 6061 aluminium pedal body is concave, where the raised stainless steel traction plates accentuate the profile. With thin trainers the plates place too much pressure on the sole of the foot, but with heavy-duty skate shoes they feel spot-on.
At £99 the Law Moto-X pedals aren’t cheap but they are made from the finest quality materials and the medieval styling offers stacks of grip. Add that to the fact there are completely rebuildable and they start to justify the hefty price tag. They are tall though, so if you like slender platform pedals, look elsewhere.
