Marin Mount Vision 2006 Fork Travel

Hi All

I'm running a Recon U-Turn 85-130mm on my Mount Vision 2006. Wondered what the maximum travel you could run with this frame without the ride being spoilt?

I currently run it about 115mm and seems ok. I know 100mm forks come with this frame but i seem to suffer with bad neck ache when i run 100mm.

Welcome to the forum, tis a friendly place.

The neck ache doesn't sound like a symptom of your fork length, more like a combination of bars, stem and possibly tension??

The latest models come with 120mm but don't know if this is as a result of a re-worked frame, I would suggest that if running a 130 doesn't slow the steering down too much then it should be viable to use the whole range of your forks travel.

As for the neck ache does it happen on other bikes ?

I'll try uping the suspension to around 120 and adjust it on the ride. I have done the usual stuff like get a riser bar different stem, seat is at same height as bars.

Not tried a different full susser bike. next thing to try is my helmet wear it a bit further back. Neck ache only starts after 19+ miles, before that it's ok.

Noticed the Marin Wolf ridge from 2006 had 140mm forks, slightly different frame but not that different will try 120mm see how that goes.

I've just built up a 2006 Mount Vision frame (large), most of the parts were from a medium frame. I was considering picking up some 120mm travel forks as the steerer from the original 100mm forks is now just a little to short.

I'd be interested in knowing how your ride felt when you'd adjusted to 120mm.

Any info would be helpful.
