    More Ice & Snow!

Cancelled my planned Cwmcarn visit yesterday due to daytime temps of -4 to -5 & loads of Ice.

I took to my local trails instead for a slide...I mean ride? I think???

Chuffed I didn't crash as I spent half the ride on sheet ice and it was bloody cold in my shorts!!! No leggings, they're on my Santa list with luck.

My only problem was when I needed a drink at the top of the climb, my Camelbak pipe was frozen solid!!!

And now last night its snowed on top of the ice

Anyone else had snow & Ice problems this weekend?

    car related - yes
decided to finish off some crimbo shopping yesterday, drove slowly to the end of my road which is on a hill and at the bottom of the hill is a main road with a massive roundabout. applied my breaks slowly and began to slide towards the roundabout totally out of controll, tried dabbing my breaks - nothing... ended up having to mount the curb to stop from sliding into the main road. not good

bike related - No, I'm ashamed to say I jibbed my weekly ride because of the snow

I ventured out on local trails on Saturday.
It was the first time I have worn my Endura Air Defence jacket and it was toasty even with just a base layer.
It was an experience to say the least, and I only saw one other cyclist out.
I also had problems with Camelbak freezing

Not really. Broke the bigger tyres out for the snow and lowered the tyre pressure to account for the ice.

One tip for the pipe. When I laid my parket floor down, one of the things that I had a bit of left over is that white plastic foam sheeting. I find if I wrap that a few times around my camelback pipe and use electrical tape to secure it, this acts as a really good cladding and stops the pipe from freezing up.

Your other solution is to take more sips of drink, keeping the water moving. But I like my cladding (Or flooring white stuff).

Raleigh Royal 10 speed (Use occasionally as it has a rack)

    Giant Anthem X2

    Giant Defy 1 (Blue)

Yes, OK, I may have sold my sole to Giant, but it was worth it.

...or just fill the Camelbak with a nice drop of white wine - will benefit from a good chilling, plus the alcohol content will stop it freezing until it's really cold. And if you buy Austrian wine, it will have a bit of ethylene glycol (aka anti-freeze) added for free - or have they stopped doing that now?

Minus 9 (yes nine) here this morning...so no riding today.

I'd ave to put Brandy in the Camelbak today if I was stupid enough to venture out!
