    TESCO STOCK LAMBORGHINI!!!!!

I only went on for a giggle, but I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this:

    http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-7907.aspx

Apparently it's a "Lamborghini Muiro" and it could be yours, yes, YOURS for the sum of one hundred and eighty pounds. ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY POUNDS FOR A LAMBORGHINI! And you get clubcard points!

And I thought Ferrari were bad for shamlessly branding anything and everything...

At least the BWM and Porsche bikes that have floated about over the years have been mildly interesting. That's just pure tat.

The spec list reads like a dream, here are some highlights:

    Forks: Front Suspension
    Rear Shock: Yes
    Wheel specification: 26inch alloy

    Why Lamborghini? WHY?

I think it'd do two runs down the skills at hamsters. one to break it, and one more to properly scrap it.

Just realised, it IS a real Lambo - you're going to spend more time fixing it than riding it, and more money fixing it that you did on the initial purchase...

    Re: TESCO STOCK LAMBORGHINI!!!!!

    Exactly...

Had to laugh at the halfords ad's recently trying to sell a "Quality full suspension mountainbike for £99"...

Makes you wonder how cycling in the UK is going to progress to a decent level when people are unwilling to spend more than £100 on a bike.

I recently convinced one of my mates to upgrade from a truly horrific £100 shed that I spent more time fixing for him than I did riding my own bike, to a £430 (yes he paid the full price) Carrera Kraken and he couldn't believe the difference.

Another friend of mine bought a cheap Diamondback full sus (like £200) and when I told him it'd cost about £20 to replace the BB he quite rightly stated, "that's 10% of the bikes value!". Imagine if he'd take it to a shop he'd have fainted at the £40 - £50 they'd have quoted him!

When did bikes become this disposable commodity? The general concensus seems to be "ride it 'til it breaks and then stuff it in the back of the shed and buy a new one in a couple of years time".

    Grrrr...

Cheap bikes should be banned - they do more to put people off cycling than interest them in the sport.

In my opinion, you shouldn't be able to buy a bike for less than £350 - £500, maybe then people would treat them as more of an investment.

    Re: TESCO STOCK LAMBORGHINI!!!!!

My first "New Bike" was a Barracuda Thriller, They also had in the shop a JCB version, no it didn't have a shovel on it! Can’t find a photo of the special edition, you have to ask you’re self, would my digger go faster than you’re Lambo? or do you feel lucky, punk!

It was heavy and went like an unguided missile, handled like a digger, brakes were as sharp as an excavators, and you almost always went crashing through trees on it, though in this case the trees always came off better!

You have to start somewhere, to see if the bug bites, most of these bikes end up rusting quietly and safely in someone's shed, those that are thrashed will meet an eary grave.
