Full Face Lid

After some careful thought and some near misses with rocks and roots etc, I have decided to invest in a full face helmet as I do quite enjoy my face and would like it to stay as it is.

I am here to get some advice on how to spend my money which I know you are all good at.
My question is why oh why is there so much variation in prices for full face helmets? 60 odd quid for a sixsixone helmet all the way to 450 odd for a TLD one. I am guessing the price difference there is mainly materials and paying for the name brand of TLD.

Any recommendations would be super!

I use said 661 lid, the Full Comp 2, and so does Reevil. I have ridden, raced and crashed the damn thing and not even a cracked visor, it's a brilliant piece of kit! Think Reevil had a rather large crash in his t'other week in the Isle of Wight, and it served him well, drop him a PM asking!

I've been eyeing up the urge archi-enduro... it's sort of an open full face thing.

Fred, that looks a cracking lid, a compromise between the TLD Half-face from a few years back and a full face, perfect for enduro type stuff!

yup, something I want as you can spit while wearing it.. plus I@m not plannin on doing anythign that is too crazy where I think I'd need the full on protection of a full full face.

+1 for the archi enduro, just crashed my urge endur o matic and it saved me big time. the material that is used is the same between the endur o matic and the archi and i took a heavy hit and the shell didn't crack at all.

Question is: What kind of riding do you do?

I reserve my full face for dh & wheels in the air stuff.

If you're riding xc or trails, I wouldn't get a full face for 3 reasons:

Weight
Heat
looking like a plum riding xc with a full face.

I wear an Urge Enduromatic for trail centres & xc. The full face comes out if it is likely that I'll crash.

Having said that, my 661 comp has served me well, including a big crash onto my head.
I've just ordered a http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=79388 as it was cheap as fcuk. Got it as a backup, but I've no idea until I try it on.
I got it in crc's special deal, for just 26 pounds!

Yeah I will stick to my normal lid for XC and general trails but have been getting back into DH recently ( I used to ride a lot about 6 years ago )
I wouldnt wear the full face for trails, I am partial to not looking like a plum if i can help it.
I think maybe I dont need to get a full face until i upgrade to a proper DH bike (hopefully next month)
