New Bikes again.......sorry

Hi All

Im new here and have been lurking around for a few days

I took my bike off road for the 1st time on Saturday and loved every minute of it, and quickly worked out my Giant Rincoln just isnt gonna cut the mustard for me

Its my intention to mainly use it for off road trails in places like Epping, Thorndon, Hainault and Danbury and the occasional local comute.

So im looking at a new bike and have come up with a couple of options, just wondered if anyone had any thoughts or opinions

I have discounted the Specialized Carve Comp as my friend has just bought it and it will look a bit wafty if I follow him round on the same bike as it only comes in 1 colour set

Please feel free to throw other suggestions in, my preference is new as my knowledge of bikes is limited to A wheel at the front, one at the back and a triangle of metal holding it all together

I have to be honest I like the retro look of the Charge Cooker, but I really have zero idea about anything else

Charge bikes are nice, they are pretty rare on the trails too. Gotta love a but of steel....

Why are you going for a 29er tho? You're limiting yourself to a very small section of the market.

I know, but I have read the reviews, reports and ridden my friends specialised carve comp and like the way it felt

And the plus points of the 29er seem to suit me where as the negatives are not so much of a problem for me, well that's my line of thinking and I guess only time will tell

how tall are you? Just curiously?

Wagon wheels are not so great for shorter people on the whole.The disadvantages get proportionally smaller as you get taller from what I understand.

I'm 6ft 2

Which I believe to be one of the advantages of a 29er

Yup certainly its tall enough in my book. I'm a similar height and am looking at one too for mile munching/commuter duties.

I'm 6'5 but i still didn't pick a 29'er! tried a mates one out and just felt like the wheels were gonna buckle!! lol
