Decided to give the park a go today after all that has been written recently.
I last rode there probably 18 mths ago and what a difference - and for the better I must add. Now conditions were not great in that it was wet, rooty, chalky and slippery but the trails were unrecognisable from my last ride there. Plenty of new singletrack, a few little drop offs and also small tabletops. Talking to a local, they are just finishing changes to the final descent, looks like big deep berms with also options for air time.
I was also told today that MBR visited recently to check out the trails so it will be interesting to see what they say.
Now, south wales this isn't, there aren't long continuous up or downhill sections, the trails here are more short and sharp, and this will keep you on your toes and test your handling skills and stamina.
Once it dries out I think this will be very fast in quite a few places.
If you live close by, it is well worth a ride, I certainly will.
Oh, and the cafe does nice cakes......
Nice one Derek,
I will def. have to give it a go at some point. Problem is I have to go past Kingley Vale to get there......
My sister lives closer to QE Park, so I may visit her & her baby twins & accidently put the bike in the car for a blast on the way home!

So what's the verdict?
Is QECP worth the drive down from London for a day out?
It sounds like you might find something closer.
Swinley?

QECP is a bit small really for a long drive as said it has some good short stuff that if your into riding up and down the same stuff for a few hours its ok but if your into long sweeping singletrack then you maybe disappointed, im not saying its totally **** just dont expect some big managed trail centre, there are dedicated MTB, Horse and walking trails with full time patrolling wardens during the peak months. Worth a visit? Yes definitelyits also worth crossing the road to ride down that nice long fast hill which is also part of the SDW, XEN sent me some scans from his book about an unofficial trail 10 miles down the road that was worth riding up and down for sure

Is that Kingley Vale you mean Steve? (Or Stoughton DH as they'recalling it now.)
That's great fun.

As SteveMTB states, it is a small loop but testing nonetheless. I rode virtually continuosly for 2 hrs and did two complete loops and also sessioned a couple of sections 3 or 4 times.
Is it worth a visit ?
Yes
If you are travelling a long way, still yes but I would combine the park loop with an extended ride out onto the south downs, there are some great trails and views.
Yes m8 this one,

hard to find first time but great course, right over the back is a long flowy singletrack path great track but goes nowhere and the trek back makes it not really worth the effort
