I understood that the coordinates for the MBR competition should be published on the 2nd Saturday of the month. I can't seem to find them on the website (or am I looking in the wrong place). I was planning a day away based on this (as the area is not local to me), but have had to scratch these plans as the coordinates were not posted (I was expecting them to be posted on the 12th Jan)

Ditto,
I drove all the way down to the Quantocks from the NW, stayed overnight to be fresh for a great ride and a hunt around on Saturday but nothing appeared on the website!!!! Trying to find a 30cm tall bottle along a 30km route without co-ordinates was, to be honest, a waste of time. Still, had a great ride all the same but were where the co-ordinates?????

I thought it was the 2nd Saturday of the month, which was the 12th Jan. The first one was the 5th Jan. The mag came out on the 2nd Jan I think, so either way, it should have been the 12th Jan.
MBR staff - can you at least publish the date when the coordinates will be published?
Thanks

We've given you the co-ordinates and even a photo clue of where the MBR treasure is buried — but still no winner!
So here's our very final clue, a blow-by-blow description from author Tommy Locke himself. It's described in the direction that you'd actually ride the route.
Here's what Lockey has to say: "Basically the bridleway singletrack dropping into the valley gradually doubles back Left through high-sided heath and enters tree cover. Just afterwards, before it tips steeply in the valley, just down the bank to the right lies an old forked oak tree, around the back of which, right at the base, and properly buried in the earth is the bottle and a dog eared copy of Escort. Happy hunting!"

Has anyone claimed this yet?
I went up there today and found an old black Zefal water bottle with a printout of the photo from the mbr website stuffed in it. I guess whoever left that found the booty.
I thought it was a bit of a shame that you published the blow by blow instructions and photo. What's the rush, there's almost a year before you need the full set entrants to hold the final draw. You should have let it run.
Still, I had a great time. Took my brand spanking new Picth Pro out for the first time

Cool, well done to them
What do you reckon to not posting all the extra clues? I think the last one was spoiled when you published it in graphic detail, a case of simply turn up and dig it up.

at least post on the main news page that it has been found!!!!
trapsed down to the quantocks today and found the spot but gave up looking, got home and hey presto looked on this forum thingy and it's been found.
really angry now, and even crosser that your finder has littered with his old water bottle.
as corblimey says "whats the rush". give people a chance to find it from other areas of the country that can't get down to the quantocks asap

Have to agree with this post. The website has had three different stories (21/1, 25/1 and briefly 4/2 with the extra clues) on this which seem to have been switched about during the day. The last one with the extra clues only appeared for a short while yesterday and was then replaced with the 25/1 piece. Does it matter how long it takes until someone finds it without sticking a big X on the spot.

Everyone who was planning to go on Sunday - don't bother, unless you want a great ride. The clue was found today (Saturday) for the Rosedale competition, unfortunately, it was not found by me (I was 10 minutes late after a 3 hour drive!). Still, several of us got 2nd prize - a great ride in fantastic scenery in brilliant weather.

We can't confirm whether it's been found or not until whoever found it contacts us with the password. And that won't happen till Monday morning at the earliest as the "hotline" is only manned monday to friday
Anyone who missed the prize will have to make do with the fantastic trails, epic scenery and incredible weather we've had this weekend.

You mean you don't work 24 hours a day seven days a week? that's really poor! what about all the people who, ON THEIR DAYS OFF WORK, AT THE WEEKEND need to know that they 'didn't' find the prize
Just kidding keep up the good work MBR/AndyW

My self and the wife found the treasure we wern't first on site as 2 lads had used their wap phone to get the cordinates from the top of chimney bank, we drove up from wrelton(near pickering) having got the corinates off the interneat at home then geo-cached them in the GPS. It was under a stone in front of the cairn that was 40 yds off the trail. everyone had similar ideas and probaly 15 people appeared at the spot within the hour from each of the the three directions of approach, we found it at 9:17 It was a good day for a ride as other have posted

Bigger market. Some people will only buy the mag to find out about the route. If its not on the mainland some people are less reluctant to go so wont buy the mag. There is probably more subscribers on the mainland than on the islands as well.

Yeah, they always seem to be in really "typical" places. I don't live anywhere near Exmoor, Dartmoor, Wales, Scotland or any amazing riding spots. Do some on the south downs sometime!!!!!
I don't mind really, it's great to hear about who last won it.
Thanks!
