im off to dalby forest on sunday with the boy.
im stuck between black and red, my son tackled the hamsterely forest black run and passed with flying colours.
he loves the north shore and the rocks etc so where not affraid of the black, im just wondering if anyone has been could they tell me what they thought?

I been to Dalby a few times, (only an hour away in the car)
The red routes fine but if your bairn's already done black stick him on the black at Dalby-He'll love it!
Couldn't tell you how Dalby compares to others as it's the only centre i've been to, but mark my words it;s a good set up, and the red's a blast!!!

I love the red route.....
Still haven't conquered the full thing yet, last time we went Status Quo were playing and we had to be out of the gates by 4pm precisely!
At our nice leisurely, not quite fit enough pace we needed an extra hour and a half to complete! however we bailed out down the blue route which saw us travelling down a forest road, on a reasonable gradient for what seemed like an eternity. that left us almost at the start line!
Its a great centre, can't wait till I can afford my own bike and can stop hiring a blast deluxe from the bike shop at £25 a time!
According to my Fiancee our wedding and honeymoon is more important than a new bike!

i think ben's misses has stopped him coming on this thread as you lot are poring poison in his ear.
shame on you. 
does your or will your boss not sign up to the 'ride to work scheme'?? that way you will get the bike you want for half the cost and your woman wont feel the pinch as it will come out your pay weekly/monthly before she gets her hands on it. 
win win situation.

I'm chuffed to bits with the bike i've got at the mo and i try to ride to work as much as possible, what's stoppin me applyin for a half price bike through this scheme then swiftly sellin i on?

No she didn't stop me and she's not as bad as I probably made out!
Its probably a valid point really as the wedding / honeymoon are less than 3 weeks away!
I spent the afternoon trying to fix my laptop..... hence not replying!
Cycle to work scheme........
Would love too but technically I'm not empolyed, I'm a PhD Student! so doubt that would work!
giving her the visa doesn't really work, when she earns more than I do anyway!
These threads do go off topic very quickly....... and I'm thinking this was my fault, so sorry everyone! I'll try not to do it again!

After discovering that Status Quo were the reason we were being kicked out of dalby early...... my mate cycled most of the way round screaming "F...ing Status Quo"
Which I felt was a little harsh, doubt they did it on purpose to annoy him.......... Or did they?

Ben - you've gone about this all wrong mate. I take it the fiance got a nice chunck of expensive glass on her finger after you proposed??
You should have dropped a few seeds into her mind about having your new bike on her finger. This gets the girl understanding what a big sacrifice, (commitment - sorry darling!!), you are making. Then when they're still gooey eyed and realising how amazing you are you start dropping the "wheres my engagement present?" questions and before you know it, (12 weeks!!), you're in the bike shop and she thinks its her idea!!!

if your a student then just write to the MR G.BROWN and explain your situation, explain to him how a new steed is invalubale to studys as getting out on the bike re-fuel's your brain for more learning, trust me it will work.

Hi,
Er, anyone still interested in Dalby? Personally I rate the red trail although I've not got a huge amount to compare it to. I'd say its better than the Marin trail in Guidyr forest, North Wales but not quite as good as the Wall in Afan, South Wales. Its built by Singletraction (respect due in large amounts - if in doubt visit Stainburn and quake in your spuds!)
Ok its £7 per car to get in but you can get a year pass for £35 or park up outside and ride in. Hit the visitor center for a cool map of the bike trails (plastic coated credit card size and folds out with waymark numbers on for a quid).
And the trail...its getting a bit battered now but still does it for me. 23 miles of red graded trail, some of it is a bit too flat unfortunately, especially in the northernmost sections, but there are more than enough seriously sweet sections to enjoy. The best of them for me are just before and just after Dixon's hollow (skills park with dirt jumps, skinnies etc). Anyway give it a go and let us all know what you think, it gets pretty busy on a weekend but its fun overtaking the newbies and trying to keep up with the athletes!
