Bloody 'el!!
I was thinking of doing that as I've just paid £22 for one rim strip for Lady Q and I reckon it's no different to a 24" tube cut in 2.
I'll have a go and report back!!

Looks like something out of TISWAS! How good are tubeless? I mean will they make a difference to everyday riding or are they strictly for hard rides..

Matty,
Tubeless are the future.
I've not had a puncture in 2 years of riding and that's everything from the Austrian Alps to the local canal towpath where my mate Typhoo (thousand perforations from every ride) got 2 in the space of 10 minutes.
It was hilarious to see him re-fit his back wheel only to discover a puncture in the front, as the light slipped away!
It means you can spend more time riding and less time with it upside down fixing it.
In fact the other weekend at CyB a guy on a tricked out Yeti burned past us on the Dragons Back, going past the cafe halfway round, anyway he left us for dust, until we came across him at the end of Uncle Fester - bike upside down fixing a flat, we got back to the trail head before him.

I hope you passed him your Thermos on the way past!
Sounds good, like the sound of the tubeless. Had a couple of rear pinches on a recent Lakes trip after a rocky descent and as i'm hardtailing it at the moment i bet they would help. May look into this further!! Cheers.

Not had a single puncture or pinch flat in three years of tubeless, had a few slowies but I do mean slowies! they don't go down like a tube that has a hole in it, tubes are very elastic, whereas tyres are very tough and not very elastic so when a hole gets in a tyre it does stretch and create a large hole unlike a tube which does! thats why a tubed tyre goes down pretty much instantly!

Matt,
I started off on HT with tubeless and just carried them over to full suss. To show a neighbour how good they were I pushed a pin through the top of the tyre, air p'd out. Rotated the tyre to get the sealant over the hole and hey presto, puncture repaired!
The only issue with Tubeless will come from not being able to fix a patch to the inside of the tyre, they're coated with something that doesn't allow anything to stick to it. Tried and failed with all kinds of adhesives. So I always carry a spare tube just in case I rip the tyre and the sealant can't do it's job on holes more than 3mm in diameter.

Watched it, tried it, love it.
I'd just ordered a Stans rimstrip for £15 shortly before watching this for the FS so was a bit miffed. However, the HT was still running tubes so I thought I'd give it a go. Got a 20" tube from Asda for less than £2, banged in some manfat, put in some air and away you go. Happy days. 2 or 3 weeks in and so far so good.

So if you run over a 3" nail you're stuffed?
