My nephew is buying a new PC with windows vista and wants to know please can windows xp games be played on vista? He likes war games and theres a new version of call of duty 5 out soon.Many thanks for helping out an older rider.

XP games can be played on Vista, yes.
Thats the official line, anyway! PC gaming is never 100% straightforward, due to compatibility issues with the huge number of PC components, but Vista should be suitable for any game for Windows.

Imagine a world where you know where stuff is OK.
All is simple and in order, planets revolve around a star, moons around a planet... With me so far?
For the last 25 years you know that if you go to the drawer by the side of your bed you will find your socks, hankies, shreddies and maybe a copy of MBR on top next to your bedside light.
Now, wake up one morning with a new Vista, you go for your socks only to find spoons and forks, you switch your light on and the kettle starts to play Terry Wogan who is speaking in a think brummie accent. You go to switch it all off but now you need to click 2 buttons to switch off and the button that looks like a power button puts the machine to sleep, not off. All your programs don't reveal themselves instead you get a poxy scroll bar affair. Can you make it look like all the other versions of Windows you've ever used?
No, coz Bill says this is how it is.
Why do I have to re-learn everything?
Sorry, end of rant.

Whatever you do kev, DO NOT BUY A MAC! that will really screw up your head there is only one mouse button for starters

my sons new lap top has 'LINEX' instead of windows or vista, its not even microsoft.
those in the know will know what it is.
its good.
