So I have my new machine - been riding it for a couple of weeks. I thought I would look at the documentation and service requirements on the fork having never had one before. 1. Clean down after every ride - easy 2. Apply Teflon oil every 25 hours - easy 3. Take to dealer for strip down and reset every 50 hours - 50 hours!!! That is nothing. This leads me to question whether I can do it myself. Has anyone tried this? Do I need to get specialist tools? Any other tips?
The fork is a Suntour XCM. Cheers.

Hi Steve , 50 hrs !!!!!! OMG, don't worry about it mate just do the clean down and oil as stated and maybe send the forks off to a bike shop for a service every 12/18 months - you'll probably upgrade before they need servicing anyway (everyone loves a new bit of bling now and again), Can safely say mate that I have been riding for roughly 12 yrs and have never sent a set of forks off for a service and I am pretty brutal with my rides - just ask Sir Q
