hi fx, the internet is a good place to buy your bike, if you chose the bike you want and can get to a shop thats sells it for a test ride then great, do that then get the best price on the net. however, customer services after the purchase are a little difficult when the shop you got the bike is 300 miles away, your local bike shop will do its best to match net prices and you will have the peace of mind that any problems and its easy sorted.

there is no real main difference on a 07 to a 08 model in most case's, usually a manufacture will upgrade components, maybe the 08 bike will have the latest shimano XT mech's and chainset while the 07 will have the out dated mech and chainset, it still mint but its liks so last year!! maybe a better fork is on the 08 model but so what, lats years forks will still be great.

in some cases a better frame may be on the latest bike. i have a 2006 giant trance but in 2007 giant improved the frame so i would have rather had the 07 bike.

check out what the differences are on the latest and new bike and see how much your saving, in most cases the 07 bike will be a good deal.

second hand is fine especially i you can view the bike 1st.
ebay is the place to go, check the sellers feedbak for some peace of mind, there are tons of bikes there, i have bought and sold and never had any problems.

welcome to the game.

Hi fxceltic

The difference between last years and this years bike as far as I can see is (unless this is a typo by wiggle?) last years bike had a nine speed rear cassette and obviously 9sp rear mech/shifter but this years bike has an eight speed rear cassette/rear mech/shifter.

But what they have done is bling up the rear mech to a Deore as this is one of the things people look for when buying a bike (catches the eye, clever trickery really!) but have down rated the cassette from a Deore to a Alivio!

Non of this is bad in anyway and should not detract from the bike itself which will be great!

As far as I can see there aint much difference in price between the two years ( you may find a bargain if you're willing to search the web a bit more ) Just type in Kona Blast 07 or 2007 and get searching. Hang on a month or two and 2008 bikes will be coming down in price as well!

If you buy the mag (MBR) check out the advert pages for the online bike shops that you can search for a Kona Blast.

Have you tried your Local Kona dealer, not local? find where the nearest Dealer is then give them a call and ask if they have last years or this years bike at discounted prices (may want to ask them when the 2009 Konas are coming out, then call about the 2008 bike at a discount)

Try

Wiggle, Chain reaction cycles, Evanscycles, JeJames, winstanley, Sunset, Cyclestore, Leisure lakes bikes, cycle surgery, Pauls cycles....... there are loads out there, I reckon if you search a bit you will find loads more kona dealers.

Second hand.............. Ebay??? best if you know what you looking for really, if you know your stuff and don't hand over any money till you have seen the bike and had a ride on it you will probably get a cracking deal on a hardly ridden bike that someone purchased full price to try and loose some christmas fat last year!!!

Hope this helps?
