Just bought myself one.
If anyone was considering buying one a Stumpy FSR and has any burning questions then please feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer.
My first big ride will be on Sunday (6 Jul 08) so I haven't got an intimate feel for it as of yet, but initial impressions are very good...

UPDATE:
Sunday went well. Wales through some of the nastiest weather and a brutally muddy course at it and it performed like a dream. Climbing was a breeze and decending was a joy... Even in the midst of the slipperiest descents imaginable the bike was totally predictable.

I take it that it's the 08 model?
Also where abouts in Wales did you get too?
Oh, and why did you drive past all the mint stuff in Scotalnd to get to Wales?

Sorry for the delay chaps but the computer thingie went duff... I thought that it was me and was half way to Rio when I heard that it was a technical fault.
The bike (from here on in to be known fondly as Kylie) is a 08 model, in shiny black.
Having had it 3 days I took it to Builth Wells for the Merida marathon thing... It poured all day saturday and the course was a nightmare. 6 hours and 50km later I was finished. I was a wreck by the end but the bike was a dream.
The front and rear shocks worked perfectly together and I was flying on the downs (noticably quicker). Much smoother than my 1991 Girven Proflex! The componentry worked far better than I expected in the incredibly thick mud and caused my no problems at all. The magura marta's provided perfect 1 finger stopping power throughout. Climbing was also a doddle (until I lacked the energy to get up the hills, even in 1st gear). The back end dug in beautifully and I was perfectly balanced - no front end lift, no wheel spins and no need to get out of the saddle. However my bike came witha Thompson elite seatpost with a 'backwards kink' in it as opposed to the in-line post in the spec/picture. Can't have harmed my climbing.
The Fox F120 RLC are super adjustable as is the spech rear shock with brain fade inertia device.
The stem is also adjustable by way of a reversable shim, and there is plenty of height adjustment thanks to a wee stack of carbon (posh) washers.
In a word - Perfect - perfect for me that is, but perfect none the less.
But I will attempt to be impartial...COMPLAINTS... not really, just niggles...
When I spend that amount on a bike I would expect it to come with a shock pump. The Spesh Captain Ned tyres are great at being light weigh but not the best mud/loose rock tyres. Ned, if you are out there and I know you are) - bring back Groud Control's and Ground Control Extremes (2.5 inchers please). You know you want too. One of the stickers came off the rims too, but I can live with that - just. Other than that I have no issues at all.
As for driving past all the mont stuff in Scotland...I'm in Salisbury for the time being. Scotland is next month!
I'll be in Fort Bill from 11-15 if anyone fancies it.

UPDATE.....
I have now been hammering Kylie (I love writing that) north of the border for the past couple of weeks in all weathers and this is the state of play...
Frame and forks...
Brilliant. No complaints. She climbs like a dream. I can get up anything on her. Heartbreak hill in Kirroughtree can be done on the middle ring... A total dream!
I did have the suspension (both front and rear) set up to give me max travel, but have stiffened it up and enjoy the slightly more 'skittish' ride. However that's just me...
Groupset...
The mixture of XT and SRAM X0 works without fault...
Wheels and Tyres...
I have spoken about the tyres...I am currently running a Panaracer Fire XC Pro on the rear and a Maxxis High roller ST 2.35 on the front. The Fire XC Pro works for me, but the real winner is the Maxxis on the front is a real winner...Yeah so the ST compound will wear out a little quicker, but for 20 notes out of Halfraufd it's worth it.
The DT Swiss 4.2 rims holding out well...
Hubs...
The front one says Specialized and the rear one says DT SWISS..but they look identical. The rear starting squeaking horribly. As it is a sealed (alghout clearly not very well) unit I could not get into the bearings. I took off the cassette but could not see a way to get any further... I tried to force some grease in and it seemed to do the job, but the LBS will be taking a look at it...I'd rather be able to do it myself though.
The QR's are oversize (possible for stiffness???) and not very Quick release, but I ani't racing so for the exrta on trail security I am not complaining. The only issue I can see is if you wanted to upgrade to X-lite etc...they won't fit and will require some sort of sleeve... Worth leaving alone, I recon.
Red spoke nipples...
blingtastic!!!
Ok then....PROBLEMS...
Grips...
They could be better, pretty hard and thin... I can live with it...I just got some well padded gloves. Problem solved!
Crank Bros Smarty Pedals...
Oh dear! Utterly pathetic! When I spend this amount of money on a bike I do not expect corners to be cut to such a degree.
1 x 50km Mountain marathon in the rain and twice round the FW XC course in the dry and they were finished (creaking, crunching and an almost bearingless amount of play). I could spend a tenner on the re-build kit, but why should I? It'll only happen again. We don't all ride in the californian-esqu weather, we don't all want to. I have riding buddies that have egg beaters and they run well, but mine don't. Went to nevis cycles and got some XTR spuds. I am now a happy bunny.
Magura Marta's
Had one day where they didn't want to work, 40-50 pumps of the levers and they seem to be fine again... Plenty of modulation and heaps of power...
