Anyone tried the Evans Ride-It outings? Wanted an opinion before possibly going for the Stokenchurch event.

I'm doing the one in Thirsk this weekend so will report back if any good.
I'm taking the trusty GT but it needs new Tyres so I'm may have slid my way round the course and be carrying a few injuries and smiles!! (Not buying new tyres as getting a new steed in a month or so!!)
I've looked at previous results on Evans web and looks like they're getting good turnouts. Just sign up anyway - worst that can happen is you have a day out on your bike... Awful Eh!!!!

Well it was muddy - there was some mud thrown in for luck and then some marsh/bog mud before the end.
A tough slog round as my bike weighed about 4 times what it should with all the mud stuck to it, (did I mention it was muddy??), and had no traction and little braking power!!
It was well organised, an ok route and if not for the mud it would have been a blast. As it was it took me 4 and a bit hours to do 26 miles!! 2 falls, a few bruises but I did hit the finish line with a smile.
Sign up and head out - hopefully you'll get better conditions!!

I am probably going to do the North Downs Oxted one, my cousin lives just down the road from the start.
-------------------- "Cross Country is where it all began. Giving riders the opportunity to go beyond roads and experience new places in nature where no one else goes. It is a test of endurance and technical skills where one must climb up steep hills and descend down narrow trails through wandering trees and over rocks. Giving one an overwhelming sense of accomplishment and excitement with one simple ride." - Kelli Emmett
